gas. turn. skid. spin. curb. wall. pole. stop. :-[
Location: Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles
Situation: tuesday, noon, 90 degrees
Story:
Some burgundy Porsche 911 tailgating me. A turn is coming up, the top of a small hill, too, with the road banked the wrong way. I accelerate to get away from the Carrera into a lane change and my front tires, oh, they lose traction. I correct for it, but incorrectly sending the car into a left-right wobble. At some point very quickly after that, my right front tire clips the curb. The car spins clockwise, while still with lots of forward momentum, and jumps the curb onto the sidewalk (or, rather, grass/dirt-walk). THen proceeds to scrape/hit the wall while still executing the turn, slides forward more, and stops 270 degrees from the original direction after it hits a lightpole. The Porsche? Nowhere to be seen.
I guess to blame are my stupidity, the tailgater, the tires, and the hill/turn.
Pic attached is from inside the tow truck. Looks much better than it is, actually. While the doors and cabin are fine, the front is basically cracked/broken/bent. THe hood is off-place or bent. The tires popped off the rims or something along these lines (will go back to look some more). The rear left rim is bent from the curb probably. Oh, how I appreciate my insurance company right now. :-]

slow server, more pics
