DG Coupe returns from dealer with new LF wheel bearing . . . smiles again !

Smooooth sailin', Forge hums, S02's stick like crazy. Evolution autocross school this weekend - Phase 1, lots of seat time. Gonna be faster . . !

tell me about your wheel bearing please ! did it cause vibration ? was damaged ? if so, how ?

Hum, that makes 2 of us with LF bearing failures.

Mines a 00 180. Replaced at 25K.
It was a bit noisy, a bit like tire noise whine, otherwise not noticable.

not sure how it was damaged . . .

we think it may have been from not tightening the CV joint nut after the clutch job. Dealer doesn't think so, says it sometimes happens, unrelated to clutch job. The wheel was actually loose on the axle (+/- 15° ! . .gasp . . .!). After retightening the assembly, we test drove it and could hear the bearing. It sounded like a digeredoo - mechanic said that's a bad bearing, go home. It was damaged by the wobble from the axle nut coming loose. I also had just put on new tires the day before, and did hear a different sound then, which I thought it was the tires' new road noise. It was kind of a grinding, that I (LOL) mistakenly called the sound of the fierce grip. Ooops. Otherwise it handled OK, except for this kind of lurch when I applied the brakes, which I thought was a soft pedal, because sometimes it was fine . . . ah, hindsight . . . What do you hear/feel? Take it to the dealer, and have a mechanic drive with you in the car, and interpret.
