Default Is your TT Bose reciever this poor, input wanted

I live in Southern NH within 10-40 miles of some large Urban areas with quite a few radio stations. All my cars even my 43 year old Blaupunkt in my VW get pretty good reception. My GM S--t box Loaner from Audi stopped at 12-15 good stations during a scan through the dial. My TT on High sensitivty scan gets three on low it does not stop at ANY stations, even the ones in my own city. Is something wrong or is the reciever this bad. Are other peoples experience the same? I can single step sometimes and get a station but it is still not all that well recieved even though it should be. I'm a little PO'd to have spent $1,200 on a radio only to be out performed by a $100 Delco radio reception wise at least. Should I have Audi take a look at it?

I get the same stations I got with my BMW and with my A4 in the SF Bay Area. No complaints.

Default I can pick up plenty of stations around Philly but if I venture 30+miles out

the reception becomes very poor. I am truly disappointed in the performance of the Bose system - especially having paid a not insignificant sum for it. I'm going to upgrade the head unit and speakers eventually but suspension mods are higher on the list (so are replacement TT valve stem caps) and then there's that "wedding" thing........

Default I have traveled a bit in the TT and get very good reception...

is it possible that some of you have the antenna unplugged from the back of the head unit?

No, why would those careful Hungarian builders of the TT do that?

I have seen drastically different reports here over the years of radio reception quality in the TT.

Default Sounds like something is wrong with antenna connection.

i have very good reception on my Bose (that from a Bose hater!). I have a similar problem to what you describe on the Alpine unit in my GTI. I suspect the bozo that installed it didn't connect the antenna, and rather than go back a FOURTH time (Soundtrack, for anyone in Denver) to get the installation done correctly, I do without. Someday I will fix it myself.

BTW, Delco is known for having outstanding signal reception capability, even on those OEM radios. I used to have an S-10 Blazer with stock Delco that would get most of the Denver stations 100 miles into the mountains!!

Default The GM loaner that Audi gave me did that.

It was kind of a neat function. The scan could be set for news, country, rock, soft rock and it would just scan those stations. Neat feature on a base radio costing nada.

Default am reception in the coupe is not very good because of the placement of the antenna...

in the rear windshield -- it doesn't impact fm reception very much, however.
