Awesome service experience this week...
Two days before I was scheduled to take my car in to get the oil changed my "check engine" light came on. I didn't need a diagnostic tool to tell me it was the DV. I arrive at the dealership (Park Place @ Dallas, TX) at 8:30 for my oil change. I also mention the check engine light and ask them to check it out.
By 9:30 am, they have brought the car back to me with fresh oil and a fresh DV and I am on my way. I don't know if it is a good thing, but they now stock DVs and have gotten really good at swapping them out.
All I know is, I was very impressed and am very pleased.
Incidentally, this is the third stock DV that my car has had. My last one was replaced at 10,000 miles (check engine light). When I go in for my 20K service, I will probably put a Forge DV in the car.
The only decent thing they've done is not charge me for the Mobil 1 last time around...
your engine will be fine!
the dv valve, a 5 minute job. pull the codes (something with 17...), and swap it.
hope the car was washed and...a way to say thank you would be a lot of "yes and 5" when audi calls for csi points!
besides this.....there are about 10,000 different things why a check engine light is coming on. i just wondering that nobody is talking about the check engine light due to a missing filler cap (rough leak reported by the leak diagnosis pump)
to embarassed???
nobody out there with alarm trouble, seat heater switch won't stay in or over cross installed, rattling noise hatch, uhu noise when turning off engine, radio static when rear window defoger pressed etc.etc.etc ???
on the other hand, they get these the bulletins sometimes really late and small dealer can't afford to sent techs year around to school. be patient. the parts situation is not a dealer thing (unless you have useless part people). just look at the a6q fuel sending unit recall. the 3rd attempt to fix the problem.
and you know what? I LOVE THIS CARS!

I was able to get 140,000 miles out of a Toyota Camry by adhering to this rule. I probably would have gotten the same performance if I had changed the oil every 10,000 miles, but I can afford it and it doesn't take that much time to do it.
Anyway, the oil change on my TT turned out to save me time because they were able to swap out the defective DV during the 45 or so minutes I was at the dealership. It was a WIN/WIN.
