Next possible NYCMAAG/NY/NJ/CT event: GoKarting
i did some scut work and researched the venue for a possible future NYCMAAG event. What do you guys think of REAL Go-Karting? A handfull of us have been go karting in East Hanover, NJ with indoor electric karts which are capable of an entertaining 25 MPH, but not the real deal Go-Karts capaable of up to 100 MPH.
There is a Go-Kart track off Excit 70 LIE near East Hampton, NY; it's roughly 1.5 hours away from No. NJ, 1 Hour away from NYC. It is Co_owned by a collegue of mine and he is willing to give all AUDIWORLD/NYCMAAG members a discounted group rate if we hold an event out there. I have visited the facility and have done laps on two occassions in all of the different types of karts they have to offer, and its a REAL thrill. All karts are gas powerd and there a 3 claases of karts available; Concession karts - top speed 45 mph, Intermediate karts top speed 60 mph, and REAL Shifter karts top speed 100+ mph.
The management has offered us our choice of karts for an hourly rate and also is providing food for our event. This is the deal $75 per hour rental of Karts (they don't EXACTLY keep track of time, so the 1 hour is a conservative estimate, it usually goes over); we start off in the Concession karts and drive / compete on the track, after we have mastered the track AND then if we don't kill each other or the karts we willl go straight to the 100+mph shifter karts. If it is a weekend and we want track exclusivity, we must pay a $300 fee, if we go on a week day the $300 fee is forgiven. Food is an extra $5 for burgers, hot dogs sodas, ect.
So, let me know if you guys ar einterested, and I can work on getting a rough number of people, and we can start thinking about a date.
