I think Jenner has 235/40 on either 18x8 or 18x8.5 and has never commented on any problems.

Default I have 225-40-zr18's on a 8.5 wide rim (fronts)

I would probably not do a 235 on an 8" wheel...I would stick with the 225-40

Default Well, I was just going to suggest that you'd better do your brake mod first if you are...

...since there are clearly clearance problems with many wheels.

Default Personally I would go with a 8.5" wide rim, but there is no problem with 235/40/18 all around.

You will get better stopping distances and more grip. The wheel arch will look more filled(esp when lowered). Turn in will be quicker/sooner. No rubbing or other issues.

I reccommend a lightweight 18" wheel and rubber with good wet traction. 235 width is also dependant on rim width and a 235 wide tire will be wider on a 8.5" rim than an 8.0"

Only thing that will change is at 101.7mph your speedometer will read 100mph at 66.105mph your speedometer will read 65mph. Something to keep in mind if you get pulled over...
