Default Neuspeed anti-sway bar questions. For those of you who have done this...

...did you do just the rear or both the rear and the front? What did you gain by doing this? Are any other options available and did you consider them? What is the effect on tire tread life? Overall ride? Any down side?

Default The car I have has it just in back and it is essential IMHO to improve>

the handling of the TT. Just to be sure, I went and test drove an '01 Roadster at the dealer(They don't know I got one used yet, tee hee.) The rear end on these cars are all late, even on the quattro although not as bad as the FWD. I guess by stiffening the rear it eliminates that late response in tight corners. It makes the quattro proactive rather than reactive, IMHO. Other things done to the car are Eibach's, Bilstein's, 10" rears/255/35's. It seems like the guy who built this car upgraded the brakes in front only and really focussed on beefing up the rear suspension. The difference between my car and the stocker is as to a Stuka vs. a C130. Lane change and turn in are crisper than any car I've driven. (Had a Miata and before that a '97 Integra.) Someone posted that the thick bar would put in to much oversteer, but this set up is way more stable than the stocker. I made sure I drove my car on the same route right after the test drive to eliminate bias. Just my $.02.

Default Your larger rear tires promote understeer, while the stiffer rear bar tends to negate that.

With equal tires front and rear, the effect might be more oversteer/less understeer than you feel.

IMO, at the limit you'll still have "push" with larger rear tires (front end will hit the guard rail first). Please let us know if/when.

Default Interesting theory, but not grounded in fact. All of the fastest AWD cars in the world are>

staggered. Including the HPA Beetle. It is the same platform as the TT and I'm running the exact same sizes as that car that got stupendous raves.

Default Ah-ha. Sorry, I didn't realize you had the full 491 HP at the wheels like HPA Beetle.

I grossly underestimated the 'modified' in you siggy. I didn't realize you upgraded the size on your rear tires to contain monstrous torque as they did on the HPA Beetle.

Here's the quote on why they did:

"Tire sizing was especially challenging," recalled Marcel(Horn of HPA) "Bridgestone's John Robinson (USA) and Adrian Courtenay (Canada) helped us fit 225/40-ZR18s up front and 255/35ZR-18s in the rear. Without the massive S-02s, we'd just be spinning our wheels."

How fast is it?
