Interesting service experience
Took the car in for a bunch of stuff(everything from the infamous tranny grind to a broken winshield washer fluid cap) as well as a hood chip that must have occurred when the car was at the dealer a few weeks ago. The good news is that the dealer is picking up the tab on fixing the chip(which is going to be touched up professionally in layers each time i take the car there for anything). The bad news is that my car sat at the dealer for 3 days where they did/found nothing!!!But this experience is overwhelmingly positive compared to some BMW owners' experiences.<ul><li><a href="http://www.donotbuyabmw.com">http://www.donotbuyabmw.com</a</li></ul>

Interesting service and ownership experience
I am a former owner of 4 BMWs; 82 320i, 88 325is, 90 525i, and 97 528i. The TT is the first non-BMW vehicle I have owned in 19 years.
Summary: three were great cars and the fourth was an absolute mess.
Lived in Michigan and had service at Erhard BMW in Bloomfield Hills. Found they could not even install a windshield wiper correctly and did not understand that an oil change was removing the old and putting in the new. But they loved to charge you for it. The day I traded for the TT, the headliner fell down and hit me in the head.
TT service in Lafayette, IN has been great. They listen and do what they said they would do...so far so good. Love the ride....

Bad news
When I picked up the car, I thought everything was great!! The shifter felt amazing--better than the day i picked it up. It was smooth and did not have any notchiness whatsoever going into first gear. I assumed that the dealer had looked at the tranny, adjusted the linkage, maybe even replaced the DV b/c overall everything about the powertrain was so much smoother. Unfortunately, driving home from seeing "The Fast and the Furious"(which was entertaining and tempting) 2nd gear started to grind again!!! THIS SUX!!!!!!!! Time to schedule another appointment.
