Overall, I have to say that my first service experience was a pleasurable one. It was done at the Audi of Huntington Valley in Bucks County, PA. Here are a few specs of the visit:

1) Purchased Mobil 1 5W-30 (because AutoZone was out of 15W-30) and had this put in. Hope this is going to be ok; although, guess is that this may be a little thin for the summer months. Any comments on this are welcome.

2) Had MEGA-BASS Coded! If you are debating about getting this done...Well...Please debate no longer. This sounds sooooo MUCH better. It doesn't quite make sense to me why Audi would not give you the option of getting this done upon purchase. Only thing is that, now, the FADE no longer works - which I am not happy about. But otherwise, in my opinion, this simple code creates a high quality sound system (meaning Bose) out of, what I would consider, a fairly decent sound system.

3) Asked them to put in the VAG-Tool code for Remote Windows. At first the manager tried to give me the run around about this being a safety issue in the US (as opposed to Europe). BUT, thanks to the Forum, I was well prepared for this type of remark. I simply stated, "...but I already know a few people who have had this done on their TT's at the PRINCETON dealership =;^b ". Then he agreed; however, about a half hour later, the manager came to me and said that the code was put in, and it worked, but then the convertible top wouldn't work any longer. ???Anyone heard of this??? -seems a little fishy to me. Hope someone brings a VAG-Tool to the New Hope meet so I can test this out.

4) Got an A4 2.8 to play with for a few hours while the service was being done (NO S4's available; I checked. =;^[ ) Anyway, not a bad car, but coming from someone that was actually considering this vehicle at one time -> within 1 hour of borowing it, I missed my TT - particularly the Turbo. It is surprising how much I've come to depend on the power of the TT. God, I love this car.

5) Spoke to the dealer that I know there. Great bunch of guys at Huntington Valley by the way. The dealership is the only one in the country that will sell/stock ONLY Quattro's. They stated that the S4 will actually go out of production for 1 year. This is being done so that they can modify it to match the horsepower of its existing competitor: THE M3.

FADE? You had FADE? When did they add that?

 

If you change the third digit to anything but "5", the FADE feature is turned on.
HOWEVER...
If you put it at F15, it is the same as F0.
If you put it at R15, all sound goes away.

There you have it. The real reason you can't use "FADE" is that there aren't really any rear speakers! They are all attached to the Front channels.

BTW: I coded the Mega-Bass character to "9". This seems to give the best sound. Anyone else try this?

the volume of the sound. 9 probably sounds better to keep the stereo from distortion - just a hypo.

 

I think the fade allowed me to adjust the volume of the tweeters or something. idonknow???

 

They only stock Quattro because there is more profit in them.
