They actually fixed* the Morse Code syndrome AND the random interior light/lock problem.
Two different fixes.
*Admittedly I have to go back next week when the parts come in but they verified Doug's TSB as the correct procedure (thanks again, Dougy me boy!) and ordered the part for it as well as the overhead interior light. Apparently it contains the software module that solves the frustrating light/lock problem.

...center dome light contains software (?).....
....sorry laguna, but there is nothing up there who would "run" software. they think may the trouble is caused by a sporadic short in the dome light unit.
do you have access to a vag tool??? do me a favor. check the software level on it (just enter address 35 (central locking/alarm) and post the infos (it will have the part #, workshop code and software level on it). i bet that the level is FAR below D014 (...and thats the one you need!)

Since this is such a common problem, why has Audi not posted a service note with this good info!
I'm a bit frustrated with this intermittent problem. I believe it is a software problem. Previously, some very knowledgeable folks said it was a grounding problem. I would really like to see AUDI nail this problem with a service note!

I gave them your post on it! The one titled ...it's a software issue.
The post where you went through the VAG codes and the 014 reading. They concurred with it (I had a printout of it.I think mine read D05. But the service guy said it needs a new light (a grounding issue) and it was part of the fix. He did say it had something to do with software and it was up there. Wherever 'there' is. I assumed he meant the light. I also gave them RDROCKETT's TSB and they confirmed that as well and they ordered the parts for that too. Believe me I smiled too when he said it needed a new light especially after the VAG reading we got confirmed your findings. I got that, "Oh ****, the forum guys know more than the service department!" feeling. Lol! I'll keep you posted.

The light/lock problem is well understood as is the fix, and it is NOT software...
It's a bad/missing ground on the central locking module.
Here's how to reproduce it:
1) Get in car
2) Close doors
3) Lock doors
4) Start car
You will have no interior lights (visor lights, map lights) until you restart the car. Your unlock button will also not unlock the doors, you will have to use the "pull twice" method...
