My TT is dead... another update
https://forums.audiworld.com/tt/msgs/267379.phtml
Fortunately the damage to my TT was not quite as bad as I first thought. In additon to the damage obvious in the pix the hood, passenegr door and both front fenders needed to be replaced. Total damage will be a little over $12K. Certainly nowhere near the amount of damage needed to have it totalled... although I did try (unsucessfully) to persuade the insurance company to do this.
The repair work is almost complete and should be done by Saturday. From what I've seen so far the work has been done really well, in fact, I'm sure I would not be able to tell its been in an accident.
I'm looking forward to re-zainoing it this weekend.
4 weeks without my TT has been a long time...
My dealings with bith insurance companies (mine and the guy that hit me) have generally been good. The other driver claimed that I was at fault, but although there were no witnesses they were able to determine liability... it was really a no brainer... the other guy ran through a stop sign and hit me... but as he had minimal insurance I guess he decided he had nothing to lose by contesting liability.
My main concern now is depreciation of the cars value. If I sell the car after being in an accident, I'll take a big hit on its trade in value. I have repeatedly pushed both insurance companies on this and the only response is that they do not compensate for lost value, but only repair the car to its original specifications. Does anybody have any suggestions???????
Probably doesn't actually make you feel better
sorry.Glad it's nearly finished!
But when the body shop took the car apart and put the whole car on a jig (?) there was no distortion of the frame.

Also, it's a shame that more folks can't be honest and own up when they make a mistake. I've only been in one accident where I was at fault. But I freely admitted it. I violated the other driver's right-of-way, and he hit me. Maybe he was going a tad over the limit and maybe not, but I blew it and took responsibility.
It's a shame that most seem to have to lie in order to protect themselves. Most of the time, the lying isn't even necessary, and the insurance company covers the costs involved. Sign of the times, I guess.
