OT, but mentionable..
). As we were getting into her car to leave the grocery store, I see an older man (maybe mid-late 60s) just let go of his shopping cart. It picked up enough momentum while moving to actually cause the car that it hit to move slightly (you could see the car sway a bit when the cart hit it). So, I said to my girlfriend "did you see that?" -- she had, and asked what we should do.Being the car nut that one is required to be when one is a member of any Audiworld forum, I felt it was my duty to inform the owner of the vehicle that was hit (Maxima or something) of what happened, as well as a description of the offender, and their license plate. The best part was, while writing this note, my girlfriend drove the car over to where they were parked (the old guy) and sat right behind him, kind of perpendicular to him. The goal here was to get a good view of his license plate number while he was filling his car with groceries.
Once I finished writing the note (including my name and # offering my services if needed as a witness to the incident), I proceeded to walk to the car's windshield to put the note on. The old guy was just about to get into his car and asked what I was doing. I said to him "I'm leaving a note for the owner of this vehicle, informing them of how you just rammed your cart into their rear quarter panel, did not even check the car for damage, and did not leave a note yourself. I figured you must have forgotten, so I'm doing you a favor".
He got.. a tad... upset.
Thankfully, the owner of the maxima left his driver's side window cracked just enough to let a piece of paper slip through onto the driver's seat. If not, I would have had to wait for the driver to come back, else the old man would have surely taken the note from the windshield. There was no way he was getting that note out, unless he broke the guy's window to get in there. Didn't get a call last night, but we'll see.
Funny part was, I was more upset than the owner of the Maxima probably is. They likely don't care much either (seeing as there was no visible damage, although it was dark out). It just bothers the hell out of me that there's people like this *all over* the place. I've had my TT hit by a careless door opener, and have seen it happen time and time again. It really bothers me..
What he wrote was "I just damaged your car. The people watching me write this think I am leaving you my name, address, etc...but they are wrong."
