Just got ticketed for no front plate. Any way to pass the inspection without drilling holes?
So now I have to install the front plates and get it inspected. Short of actually drilling the holes on the bumber, is there any way to use some kind of sticky things or something to just pass the inspection?
You could then cut the heads off of some screws, and glue then to the front of the plate holder so it looks screwed down.
A 1"dia 1/8" thick magnet will hold 10 lbs. for $17.40. Two of those, and that plate will be solid.
Those should do the trick. Put a little double-sticky back tape on them, and stick'em inside your front bumper.
I would put some soft material on the back of the plate, so it doesn't scratch the paint. The only way to get the plate off will be to twist it. Magnets only work when you pull, but not very well when you slide across them.
Go to www.mcmastercarr.com, and type "3268" in the search box, and hit find. This will load the catalog page. I was looking at Part #58605K43, but smaller ones may work ok.
They also sell double-sticky tape, see page "3060". Something like Part #7598A24 should work nicely. They have better stuff on page "3061", but it's really expensive.
Oh, and we want pictures!<ul><li><a href="http://www.mcmastercarr.com">http://www.mcmastercarr.com</a</li></ul>
