Default Saw a TV special about one of the Detroit company's vast warehouse of former concept cars.

Forget which company, think it was Ford. It was fantastic to see. They, at least this company, keeps them all and the designers actually use them as a resource even years later. Some really cool stuff there and some really bizarre stuff.

Default crush 'em. Remember b4 the 'Rabbit' came out in like '75?

VW had built 100-200 protos of a similar 3-box design, with a flat-opposed rear engine water-cooled design.
Management said no, and they crushed them all.

Remeber when the Saturns first came out, and they had a problem with like 300+ because of a bad cooling problem? Was it an engine leak I think?
Rather than fix 'em, they recalled them and crushed them all.
I remember seein a pix of the result, in a big lot somewhere.

I could imagine. I'd like to see how many Azteks (lookalikes) never made it into production.

For most of 1975, I was 3 years old, but I'd like to see a pic of that Rabbit.

Default Ford has a Museum in Michigan, Audi and VW also keep all of their prototypes/concept cars.

Most car companies hold onto them. They used to sell them and companies like GM have been trying to buy all of their concept cars back from collectors.

It must of had a low curb weight though. I wouldn't trust VW as far as I could catapult them either

Default They should, like, auction them off or something. That would be cool; although,

I hear that many of them do not even have engines under the hood. Like that white ford one (that looked like the Bugatti a bit) from a few years ago. That was hot!

GM has a warehouse in Pontiac the size of an airport, some go to their vendors.
