I know we went through this before but where is the temp gauge supposed to read?

sometimes. I think that gauge has a mind of its own...
I've followed the coolant temp readings that can be displayed on the climate control readout. For me, 89*C-93*C is normal while driving, and idling in traffic may be between 93*C and 101*C. Sometimes the gauge needle goes to 1:00 when the coolant temp climbs over 100*C... and sometimes it doesn't!! I wouldn't even begin to worry unless the needle goes high and stays there.
Read actual coolant temps by doing this: press and hold recirc button on climate panel; press up-vent arrow. 1c appears on display. use the temp control **** to set the number to 49c. press recirc. voila! coolant temp in degrees C.

If you sit idle in traffic long enough it will go to 1:00 until the auxiliary fan kicks in.
I can tell you from experience after sitting in Houston traffic for quite some time with the air on. If it is not too hot, turn the a/c off until you get going again so that you do not tax the engine anymore than possible. -Doug
