Default OT: Anybody have a Sony Vaio Picturebook?

I'm looking at the C1VN, C1VP model. I'd dual-boot
it with Linux and Windoze. Is the screen really
big enough for moderate use? The attraction, of
course, is an incredibly small package for travel.
It certainly won't replace my daily machine or
full-sized laptop. Any other recurring problems
with these guys?

Thanks
scot

Default I had a Toshiba Libretto...

Sort of the same idea.. ultra small.. biggest problems with it were the mouse (mounted next to the screen, thumb control) and the size of the keyboard. I think the picturebook has the same downfalls, but you can't beat the size and portability. I have a dell latitude (14" screen) now and it is a BEAR to carry around, but nice to type on a full size keyboard with a full size screen.

Default Sony Vaio Picturebook . . . . go for it

I have one of the early ones, with the Intel chip, and battery life with the standard pack that comeswith it is maybe an hour . . gasp . .
They sell a hi-density pack good for 4 hours. Now with the Crusoe chip, this is handled. Otherwise the thing is great, screen tiny yet readable, camera very handy, light and thin, reliable. My wife uses it. In fact we're gonna dock it up, and she wants to run her desktop from it. Should be fine for her email, web, and office stuff. Yeh, go for it.

Default got one myself

it's small! screen width (1024 or more if you want) helps. I'm posting from mine right now. Great for travel except don't lose it!

I have a libretto as well (from ebay) that runs vagcom software and get be carried in my trunk w/o much fear of damage.

gadget girl...

Default While vacationing, one of my friends brought his and I thought it was an awesome little machine

To have while traveling. Small, but fully functional.

Display was good. Can't say much about battery life, because it was rarely used while unplugged from the wall.

Don't leave it around toddlers though...

Default

My dad has it. He says it's slow. He uses it primarily for email.

Default I have one....but I only use it for travelling. It runs all the things I need...

E-mail, Games and music. And taking photos of things without people seeing me take the pic!!!! ;-)

I have his big brother at home and have them networked using the I-link....It's a system that works well for me....
