Supa' OT: Suggestions for non-touristy restaurants in New Orleans for next week??? TIA
Tujaque's
Arnaud's
Lunch
Central Grocery Co. for Muffuletta sandwich
ACME Oyster House for Oyster Po-Boy
and, while touristy, breakfast at Brennan's is sublimely decadent.
I don't miss the heat, I don't miss the humidity, and I surely don't miss the 200 years of enculturated ignorance, but OMG do I miss the food there.
Dinner again: Crescent City Steakhouse (bad neighborhood, good steaks)
Lunch: Mandina's in mid city(bring a lawyer friend if you want to sit during lunch)
Breakfast: Do not go to the Bluebird cafe or to the Camellia Grill if you want to avoid touristas - although both offer excellent food.
I wish all U.S. cities were as compact as New Orleans....
I think New Orleans probably has the highest caliber food of any city in the US--it's hard to go wrong there, so ENJOY!
