Default front license question

I live in CA and I have noticed that several people ride around with their front license plate on their front right dash. Is this actually legal or is it required for you to put the plate on your front bumber?

Default I am in Ohio. Front Plate is the law but they can't pull you over for it. But if you get caught..

speeding or something else, they can add it to the tally. I have been pulled over 3 times in my TT... NO TICKETS YET! (Knocking on a wood pencil....)

But no one has seen the missing front plate. I have noticed lots of cars with out them lately. But I think the car looks sooo much better without it.

IMHO

e!

Default Are you sure you can't get pulled over for no front plate in OH? I thought different.

Not that I have a front plate on my TT.

Default Here's what the Vehicle Code says:

"License plates shall at all times be securely fastened to the vehicle for which they are issued so as to prevent the plates from swinging and shall be mounted in a position to be clearly visible, and shall be maintained in a condition so as to be clearly legible. The rear license plate shall be mounted not less than 12 inches nor more than 60 inches from the ground, and the front license plate shall be mounted not more than 60 inches from the ground, except as follows:"<ul><li><a href="http://www.dmv.ca.gov/pubs/vctop/d03/vc5201.htm">Read the whole section here.</a></li></ul>

Default Do you ever have even one drink and then drive home?...

I'm in CA also. I decided to get the front plate put on at my 5k service to avoid hassles. The last thing I need is get pulled over on the way home from dinner after a couple of glasses of wine because I have no front plate and have it escalate into a problem.

If a cop wants to pull you over they'll find a reason, real or imaginary.

I plead the fifth. (PasCaTT is right, no matter what the "law" says.)
