Default Something is running (ZZZZZZ) after turning off the ignition

After a short trip, I turned off the ignition and open the hood and heard some kind of 'ZZZZZ' sound running electronically. Definitely it's not the fan... Does TTR have two fans, one in the front and one inside?.. It went off after 10 minutes...

Default If you have a 225TT it is the turbo cooler pump working...runs after engine cut off so that turbo...

doesn't fry itself.

Default BTW, it unfortunately starts running just by turning on the ignition. It is one design feature that

has always disturbed me. For example: Start car, back it up a few feet out of the garage to wash it. Fan keeps running. Start car again to pull into garage - fan starts up and keeps running for another 10 minutes. Go out later and turn on ignition to do something with radio, fan runs again for 10 minutes. Oh well.

Default If you really do this, you may have to have your vehicle towed soon...

Just a warning...

The 1.8T engine is notorious for this - basically if you start it and just let it run a few seconds and shut it off (e.g. you back it out of the garage to wash it), it will often foul its plugs requiring a flatbed to the dealer for new plugs.

This has happened to a fair number of A4 owners, though I haven't heard of it happening to a TT owner yet.

The rule of thumb is to back out of your garage and take a quick trip around the block before shutting the engine off... seriously.

Default WHAT? so I gotta drive around the stupid block TWICE when I wash my car?

once when I back out and then before I put it in? or do I put it in then take it out to go around the block? ahhhhhhh, it becomes an endless loop.
stupid sparkplugs. I'll bet the stupid ESP is involved somehow.

Default note: don't even have to start the car to activate it...

just turn key to 2nd position, but don't turn it further to activate the starter.
then turn key off and & remove.
voila! the pump is running (again).
stoopid!
