Default modifying ESP

Has anyone come up with the notion of rigging the ESP switch so that it's pushed to turn ESP on instead of off? In other words, is it possible to modify the car so the ESP doesn't come on until you decide you need it. While I'm certain it's far more complicated than that, just thought I'd ask.

Default Actually, ESP is ALWAYS ON....

even when turned off, it is actually on, yes...that is correct, it is not possible to completely defeat ESP...(for liability reasons, im sure)...but the parameters are widened when ESP is off...but not defeated...

Default the problem is...

There are times when you'll want it and unfortunately - unlike the Porsches - ESP is off when its off. In a Porsche when you hit the brakes - PSM comes back on. I know there are a couple of hairy corners where if I didn't have ESP on - I would not have mae it around to the other side probably.

Default IMHO...buy the time you decide you need ESP it's probably too late to activate

I can't understand all the ESP haters just latley...Audi did have their reasons for installing such a system and they also included a off button, I think that even the collective knowledge of Audiworlds posters still isnt as wise or powerful as AUDI, or capable of putting in as much research and development when it comes to saftey systems in their vehicles...I know that I cannot react to changing road conditions at the speed the ESP ecu does, and I highly doubt that anybody drving would have the ability to anticipate the computer as to deciding when ESP should be activated...So my conclusion is to leave well enough alone....
Just my Two cents...

The thing is that sometimes some of us want to really truly have complete control of the car, not the homogenized driving experience that is ESP. I don't think anyone is doubting the safetly of the ESP system. We just want to be able to have final say in how the car is controlled. It's a lot more fun that way..though not as safe.

Default there actually are many times where ESP is more dangerous than it is worth!

Try accellerating FAST! try taking a turn and accellerating out of that turn, with any sort of speed.

Neither of the two moves is possible with ESP active! The system cuts the power to such a dangerous level that the only way to avoid an accident is to slap the dashboard and hope you hit the damn button fast enough!

I have done this and other things in other peoples cars that have ESP. Thankfully I don't have ESP in my TT! If I did, I would pull the fuse or find some other way to totally disable that function. I don't think that Audi has sorted ESP out properly yet in the TT. I have driven other cars with ESP type systems and it is nowhere near as intrusive or dangerous as the Audi version is in the TT. It might be perfect in an A4/S4/A6/A8 or any other Audi product, but it is not ready for consumer use in the TT . . . IMHO.

Default ummmm...i think you are wrong - but even if its on and its "backed off"

I have been able to completely slide the car around at will with it off - so its not excactly as safe an option.

semantics aside ESP on is on and ESP off is off

Default Sounds like you're not driving the way ESP wants

If you plow into a corner that is what will happen.
