EPS Light Stuck On

2001 TT coupe 225hp erratically has EPS alert come and stay on. Only way to shut off light is to shut down then restart the car. Does anyone else ever have this problem?

Yep, I had it too. Answer is for dealer to put in a new module for the system. Must have been a systemic issue; I heard quite a few others have the same problem.

did you also have various other electronic issues in the car? i have some of thewackiest electronic problems in my car. The dealership told me that problem was because i was pressing on the clutch and gas at the same time. are you sure i need a new module?

Not your fault

I would think that if you could freak out the ESP by putting your foot on the clutch and gas at the same time, that many more people would be reporting this problem here on this forum.

The owners manual says that if the light comes on and stays on, it is a malfunction. Your dealer should fix it.

The 2001 180qc I test drove did this during the test drive. During a sharp low speed corner, I felt and heard a "clunk" from the front of the car and at the same time the ESP light came on and stayed on. I stopped the car, read the owners manual, and then restarted and continued. In the next low speed sharp corner it did the same thing.

My 2001 225qc has never done this (although the ESP light has come on and blinked when it was doing its stuff.)

Yes, I'm having the same problem. Anti-lock brake light comes on at the same time. At least in my car (2001 225 Coupe) seems to be temperature related. When my car is cool (55-65F outside), it will consistently come on. When the outside temp warms above 65, seems to not happen for me. Dealer has been no help, says not fault code was stored so he cannot diagnose. Heard another report that replacing th lateral motion sensor fixed the problem.

the guy at the dealership should ask for his college money back.....

....this is BIG $hit. he heard proberly 1o corners before that they could be an issue with automatic transmission 2000/2001 when you drive with 2 feets (tcm/ecm get's confussed). now the guy is trying to tell you a stupid story because in fact they have no idea what's going on.

the solution was allready mentioned in this thread.
