My "Vented TT" (very long and 5 part post!)
Here's is the 411:
Installed at: Webasto/Hollandia North America located in Sante Fe Springs, CA. Folks here were great. They are the West Coast Distributor for Webasto and have a number of installers. Ramon (sp?) did my install - he has been installing sunroofs for 22 years!
Manufacturer: Webasto
Part Number: Stratos 300M
Dimensions: 33" x 18"
Unit is electric with a lighted display and has 2 programmable open/close buttons to allow you to program various degrees of "openness" as well as the standard open/close buttons. Interior finish is gray to match my interior. Install took almost 7 hours. All Webasto units come with a 5 year limited warrantee against all materials and workmanship.

Price: $695.00 (plus tax) I had earlier said that the price would include tax... sorry, not the case.
Notes: Webasto is not open on Weekends and they are extremely busy on Fridays. Also, although I appreciated them cleaning up my car (sweat marks on paint from working on it all day), do not let them clean up your car as I noted that they use inferior towels and would have scratched my paint had I let them continue. Same rules apply here as at dealers... don't let them do it!
Comments:
The unit itself is very nice. You will need to alter your cell phone antenna prior to install as the antenna will get in the way of the sunroof when retracted. I did this by removing the antenna and filling the hole with a ¼" Drip System terminal plug. The plug fits perfectly. Pics of this are included in this post.
In the case of of my install, they were able to use the factory headliner material. They contemplated using a secondary material but decided that they could go ahead with the factory material - good move!
Exterior Aesthetics: Sunroof looks great on my Brilliant Black car. The tint is great and the molding around the edge is very clean and tight.
Interior Aesthetics: This unit is nice! The operation is simple and one of the best parts is that the unit closes upon ignition shut off. The face of the control panel is lighted green (wish it were red). The fit to the headliner is solid and looks VERY factory. Power for the unit comes from the fuse panel located on the drivers side and the wire is run up the pillar.
There is limited flutter even at high speeds. The user manual stipulates closure at any speed over 55. I am guessing that speeds over 85 would be noisy but at 70-75, all was good!
I highly recommend this installer and look forward to seeing more "Vented TT's in the near future!
So, with that, Here we go....(pics are not that great - need a new camera)
