Default Anyone here lowered their TT? Any problem with premature tire wear?

I just purchased a 225 TT and want to lower the car. Talked to Neuspeed and they carry only Sport springs for the Quattro model; which can only be lowered 1.25 inches without any problems. The Fronttrak model can be ordered with the "Race" springs that lower it 2 inches. I have heard of problems with the rear tires wearing out prematurely on Quattro models, confirming Neuspeed's information. Anyone have any experience with their TTs? How much lower are you than stock?

Thanks for the info.

Default I think that most of those who have lowered here are in that 1,25" range.

I don't remember reading anything about tire wear from any of them. I'll leave it to the more informed to respond. I've often thought about taking mine down an inch or so but I worry about speed bumps and the like. I already have some marks under the front lip from high driveways etc (all taken at very low speeds) and from being in San Francisco for the first 3 months I had it. It was a lot of fun on those hills!
Please post full details of the things you get done. People here always want to read this type of stuff.

Mark.

Default What brand of springs did you go with Mark?

Are you happy with the ride/handling after the change?

Default I didn't. I've just read about people here who have. I think I would probably end up sticking with

the stock springs and change the shocks since lowering might cause too much damage (the TT is my only car). I think it would look better about an inch lower. I'm still trying to decide. It would help me to take a ride in one of these dropped cars one day!
Keep us posted.

Default I've lowed with neuspeed sport spring....

I've them for almost 6 month, I don't find any problem with the spring, The handling has improve alot. At first I also look for race spring, but the rear will not fit. But the only problem with the sport spring is the wheel gap at the front were more then rear. Compare to H&R, my rear lower but the frot higher.

hope this help!!!

Default Bilstein Sports with HR springs!

My only problem with premature tire wear is from track driving ;-)

Seriously though, my front camber is ~1.3 negative and rear is ~2.3 negative so that shouldn't be too much of a probem for tire wear.

I have not had any reprocussions from lowering and I drive the car just about every day.

Default Eibach Pro-kit on my TT - lowered only 7/8" F & R

To me, it's just right and keeps the bottom from scraping. Handling and comfort are both vastly improved.
