Default OT: Can fish just appear out of nowhere????

This is WAY OT but is freaking me out.

I have a 130 gallon pond in my backyard along with a 40gallon above ground pond/planter that was just used for plants.

My big pond had Koi that all died over the winter.

So today I start to clean out the planter that has had all filtration off over the winter and full of dead plants.

As I was scooping out the dead plants I scooped out a live fish!!! I never put a fish in there, cant imagine it living through the winter in that foul putrid water.

Any ideas?

What are you doin' cleaning up some more. Jeez man u never seem to amaze me. First it was the Suntan Place, then the closet cleaning, and now the backyard. I am starting to get worried about you bro.

Default Ducks can carry fish eggs, but usually to larger ponds.

My folks pond has Pike and Bluegill that were never stocked there. They had to come in from birds.

Default After careful though...

The fish does look like my old Comet. My theory is the two comets that I had were "involved" in a relationship. When my big pond would fill up with water hyanthcis I would tranfer some to the little pond.

Must have been a egg in one. Still can't imagine how he lived through the winter with no O2 and extremly high nitrate levels due to decaying plant matter
