A MAN wrecked his pounds 30,000 sports car when it plunged into a river just hours after he picked it up.

The motorist left a business lunch and started his Audi TT parked next to a riverside restaurant. But, forgetting he had left it in gear, he sent the silver car shooting forward into the drink. The man, in his 40s, dived out of the car as it plunged into the water in North Warnborough, Hants.

That's what I was trying to figure out. Maybe he just said that because he

was too embarassed to admit something worse, like forgetting to put in reverse or something. Weird.
