O/T Photoshop question...After I *create* a pic, it changes the extension

to a >>>>>

TTSean.jpg.psd (adds psd) do I need to change this or how do I save it as a regular ole' jpg? Or dont worry about it?

Worry about it! :) A .psd file is a Photoshop Drawing and is huge. Depending on your version of

Photoshop, select File > Save As and then towards the bottom of the dialoge box chose a jpeg .jpg.

You could also use "Flatten image"...

but that compresses all the edited layers into one image. If I want to come back and edit something I will save first as a PSD, then flatten and save as the desired file format.

except if you want to re-edit later or preserve, as jpeg will compress, compress again and again...

until you have mush. Even selecting no compression it's a lossy compression file format. Just in case anyone does not know about certain file types in comparison. I save as psd and then save a copy for web as jpg.

When you save a pic it gets saved as a native Photoshop file (therefore the PSD) extension. To save it as a JPG, you have to specify that file type.

Remember, JPG is a 'lossy' format, so each time you open and sve a JPG file, some information is lost. What I do, and I do this for a living, is to keep the 'master' version of the file as a Photoshop (PSD) file and then save off a copy as a JPG each time I make a change to it.
