Default How long should it take to order a 2002 180TTR from the day...

you walk into a dealer and you pick up the car after it shipped in Canada?

I read someone's web page on his TT in Canada, and order in Jan and pick up in May..does it really need to take 4 months long?

Default It depends on a lot of factors (more)

1. What kind of allocation the dealer gets from Audi.
2. What geographic region the dealer is in.
3. How well the dealership operates.
4. What time of year you order it.

Now, the details..

Dealerships get a certain allocation of cars per month based on past performance. My dealership when I bought my car had a high allocation alotted to them. Therefore, I ordered my car on May 1st, and got it July 10th. So, 2.5 months. Others have had to wait up to a year or longer.

Second, region plays a minor role. It may take an extra week to get to California or way out in northwestern Canada. Just depends on how long it takes the truck to get from the customs port to your dealership.

Third, some dealerships like to stack paperwork, and your order might not even get processed for a month. Luckily for me, my dealership processed my paperwork the day I put down my deposit.

Fourth, one must keep in mind that practically the entire continent of Europe all goes on vacation in August. Due to this, if you order say, in late June or Early July, you can expect your car might not be ready until late September/Early October. It depends though.

I think a good estimate though, is like you said, 4 months to Canada. I am in Chicagoland, IL USA, so it would take a bit less time to get to me, plus, I ordered before Vacation in Europe.

You have to remember, that when you place your order, you place an order for a specific car that is to be built just for you. This takes time. It has to be put into the "build queue", then once yours gets built, a lot of steps take place, including transfering your car to Gyor, Hungary for assembly, then shipping back to Ingolstat, Germany for final assembly and inspection. There is a lot that goes on with the production of these cars..It takes time.

Default I wonder if I want to trade in my current A4 for a 02 180TTR,..

and I want to get my car before summer next year, so I should trade it in in Jan 01 in case it'll take 4 months for it..and pick up the car in April or May.

But how does it really work with trade-in and ordering..as the new car won't come until 4 months after...will the dealer estimate my A4 based on the price in Jan or in May when I pick up the car?
