That was shown in Frankfurt in 1991... R&T called it "The Ferrari from Ingolstadt" ...

was pictured along with the Avus in the "Road and Track guide to the Audi TT."

That car indirectly led to the TT.

They got tons of orders for it, but because it wasn't based on an existing platform, they couldn't afford to produce it. That led to the idea of designing a sports car based on the Golf platform.
