Default Wheel cleaning advice needed. Behind wheel spokes, products, where to buy...

I've only done one wheel so far and that was in last weeks 100 degree heat. Removing the wheel with that engineering marvel/frightening-as-hell jack was interesting. Glad I got to practice before a roadside emergency. But couldn't get all the brake dust off and that was with a lot of scrubbing on a car only 4 months old.

Pep Boys selection of wheel cleaners all seem to have the same claim. "Safe on all wheels" and in small print on back, "Test on small, unseen surface."

So what's the best products to use? Where can I get them? And do I really need to jack the car up to get this done right?

that or P21S gel are my favorites. The Simple Green makes unsightly clean spots in the driveway. :

I use P21S and use latex gloves to reach in behind the spokes with my hands.

Default Sean be careful . . .

the jack that comes with the TT is not very good. Mike bent his last weekend just raising his car a few inches off the ground to adjust the front shocks! It is bent to the point where he needs a new one! Jenner bent his a while back as well.

I would not even trust the OEM jack to change a flat, it is that flimsy.

I have used SImple Green for years, it works great. It requires less to work than P21S! I liked how well P21S worked, but I went through an entire bottle after doing my car twice and 2 other cars! My Simple Green lasts MUCH longer.

Default What is your price break?...P21S best and the hightest $ On the lower (not lowest) scale TriboTech..

no acids and does the job very well. P21S endorsed by all Euro manufacturers. A wheel cleaning tip...get latex disposable gloves...spray wheel cleaner on alloy, use wheel cleaner brush for the hard areas and then spray on hand (obviously with glove on)and reach behind wheel 'spokes'...then spray off. Never apply cleaner of any type on a warm/hot wheel (can etch alloy if heat dried onto alloy) and routinely clean alloys...minimum once a week (not taking wheel off but as described above)...allowing brake dust to stay on alloy...particularly after alloy gets wet in a rain...dust will imbed into alloy and make it VERY difficult to come off. Also to have a good start...take wheels off...thoroughly clean and then wax alloy surfaces with a alloy glaze/wax...then routinely clean thereafter. That is my formula to a better looking wheel...
