test drove a TT (be still my heart)
Well, i tried a nimbus grey 180 and a silver 225 at lunch, and the ride home in my '00 A6 2.8 was, to say the least, a bit of a letdown!! Loved the exhaust note of the 225, but the 180 was no slouch either...now if the dealer can just get me out of my lease (22.5 payoff, 15k miles on my A6)...
query: how much of a pain is it to put the tonneau cover on the top? and is the manual release in the 180 much of a hassle?

regarding the top >>>>>.
The top is easy to lower while sitting in the seat (like at a traffic light)
Being that it is manual, it is also less complicated and less likely to break / fail (have you priced anything *pump* related on VAG cars lately
)
It weighs less due to the fact there is no hydraulic pumps or lines
And the cover? I rarely use it unless I am going to be driving for a long time or for the whole day, it is not easy enough to futz with it for the short trip to work etc. That being said, it is not as easy as my past convertibles

If you mean the Boot Cover..
It's fairly easy. Too bad it wasn't automagic. Stratmosphere sells one that is easier to manage than the stock one.
But since I leave the top down almost ALL the time, it's not bad at all :-)

I had Laurel time me in a fast paced install of the tonneau cover once...
Would you belive 25 seconds. And I think I could get it down to 20 seconds in the heat of real competition.
The real issue with the cover is if you have the trunk full of luggage for a long trip there is no room for the cover to be stowed when you want the top up. But on the other hand the car looks just fine without the cover at all, so for big trips leave the cover home.
We have the power top, like it, but I have never heard a complaint about the manual top.
