Default Shifter ring loose?

Quick question: Is the brushed aluminum ring at the top of the shifter boot supposed to be loose on the shaft, or fit snugly to the bottom of the shifter ****?

Mine is somewhat loose, and I'm wondering if it's normal.

Default You probably just need to tighten the screws (4 of the 8 are 'faux', so find the real ones....)

You need a torx driver. (If the driver turns, you've found one of the real screws. It's either 4 or 5 real ones.)

Mine's not loose, but recently I feel like Raiders of the Lost Ark when I grab it on a hot day.

Interesting! Wonder if that's another change like the exhaust hanger and the badge on the wheel.

Default I stopped by the dealer today and they fixed it...

on the spot. Apparently there's a clip in there that holds the collar snug to the bottom of the shifter ****, and mine must have popped off. It's tight and solid now.

Score one for Princeton Audi/VW.

O/T: While waiting for it to be fixed, I looked around the VW showroom and took a look at a "Sport" version of the Beetle they had on the floor (my daughter is almost ready). Pretty cool, nice leather sport seats, upgraded audio, 1.8T engine (150 hp), retractable spoiler, 17" wheels. Sticker was $20,900, and he said they were dealing like crazy. Probably could get it out the door for close to $20K.

He also said there's a Beetle S coming out next year at 250 hp. Scary.

Default I thought we were similar build dates?

Normally when them make these kinds of changes it is split by build date (I'm 07/00 btw).

I've yet to crawl under the car and see how many hangers I have for my pipes!!

For my ref though: how many do you have?
