Default Beware the Eye in the Sky. HPD is all hot and bothered from that last freeway death. The ricers...

are really catching hell and I heard that they will be spot checking for Recon stickers for those departing after the event. Good luck.

Default I Kept a careful watch out labor day just for that reason. Ben must like to drive fast

once in a while cause he doesnt seem to be down with that you hit 99mph and we take your car thing, that or maybe some friends with mercedes, bmw, porches and Non tricked out hondas talked to him and convinced him otherwise, heck they might even be union people hmmmm.... or maybe he has a soft spot for rice bowls (please take with lots of soy sauce or grain of salt- as I just joken in bad taste - pun intended). Noticed that around here some of the cars are not just flash. The paper said one guy even spent 30,000 supping up his 1994 or 1997 honda accord- well... definetly to each their own crazy mind.

Thanks for the tip, I knew they were going to start looking for recon stickers, and have regular type undercover vehicles around, and according to the advertiser they were going to bait and trap some people on the freeway(H1 mostly) by tempting them in an undercover vehicle to race and then not really take off to much and have some other officers pull them over (which is a dumb move for a couple of reasons...), but I didnt give much thought about a potential sting at the event which makes sense though.

Of course if you hit that speed and no other car is with you going that fast and you get pulled over, is it still considered racing? (you racing your self or is that officer on your tail the other racer)

Oh and if a tropical audi TT is traveling at a laden speed of 99mph and there arent any officers around to hear or see it, is it really going that fast?

Default A prediction....

Growing up here, I've learned that the legislature is both ignorant and reactive. I think this whole thing will blow over in a month or so, but the cardinal rule is that HPD omnipotently controls the island. It is a good thing, IMHO. Sometimes the hand is heavy and sometimes light, but they do whatever it takes to get the message through. That confiscation law threat will run into some serious challenges when it gets bumped into the Federal courts with a Constitutional property rights issue. Let's say that lawyer A's son takes the law firm's company leased Mercedes SL500 past 99mph and it gets confiscated and sold. Mercedes is deprived of their property along with the leasee because of the acts of an individual far detached from ownership rights. Gomes should concentrate on stiff legislation which punishes the offender severely without any potential for high dollar civil class action damage risks. IMHO, we should just let HPD handle things using their "entrapment mobile" until the road race bandits wise up and tone it all down. Those red light cameras won't last long either. Everyone is so bored here that the kids will be cutting the sensor cables at the intersection as soon as the first tickets hit the mail boxes. It is all about revenue anyway.
