Default Help: S4 or 225 TT as a second car?

Hi,
I have a BMW 740il (previously M3) and I am in the market for the second car for easier in and out purpose. I am considering S4 or 225TT (S4 avant is also considered). I am not quite familar with Audi cars (having been a BMW guy and all), but their styles have struck me and my wife loves Audis. If any of you could explain the pros and cons of the two cars, I will truly appreciate it.

why go with the S4 if you already have a 740il. go with a TT.

If you go for the S4, wait until late '02 for the new MY S4. You won't be sorry.

Default Bimmer/Audi owner

Tiger: I've been a Bimmer driver since '77. My wife is on her third generation of Audi Wagon, an A-6 Quattro. When it was time for me to give up the 5'er, I fretted over the Z-3/TT choice and went with the TT Quattro. The S-4 is an awesome car, but why another 4 door?? The irony of it all is that now that I've gone Audi (not totally since I still have the e-21 3'er and the R-100 Beemer), my wife wants a 740il next instead of the Allroad. Go figure!!

Default Depends on your needs...

...if you don't plan to use the back seat much, then the TT is great...feels much more sporty than the S4, and the 225 is just about as quick in stock form. I like the S4 (previously owned a modded A4, and have driven several S4s), but 2 things really bother me about it: 1) it seems like I could never get the driver's seat position how I liked it, and 2) the shifter feels like it does not belong in a $40K car (even the short shift kits don't help much). Neither of these problems exist with the TT, IMO.

You really have to drive both cars, and then decide how important the extra back seat room is to you.

Have fun!

Default i agree about the seat position...(more)

i looked at both s4 and tt before i got my tt. in the s4, i could never find a seat position that worked for both my body and the dashboard. the tt is more fun, even if a tad slower. also, there's nothing like sitting in a 2-seater.
