Default Thinking of selling my TT 225 roadster......

Nimus grey. Appearence package, Bose Audio package, Base ball amber red leather page. Southern Cal. Car has 7800 mi. Has had 1 DV replaced. Other than that has been trouble free. No electrical problems, no creaks, crunches, or groans. No audio noises, no squeaks, clunks or rattles. No leaks. No transmission problems. No alarm problems. Only driven in the rain once. Garage kept. Not a daily driver.
Do you think I can get $38000 for it? I'll include 2 First class airline tickets to San Diego from anywhere in continental U.S. if the buyer wants to fly out and drive it home. Opinions please.

I realize you want to recoup as much as possible but as soon as the car has been sold and driven as much miles as yours, you might as well be resigned to the fact it's worth 5,000 less than you paid or less 5,000 off retail of what it should have cost. Whichever is less.

Default You asked for opinions

Brand new 2001 TTs are going for $2000 below MSRP or more in urban areas. My guess is that 2002's will go for MSRP or a little below. I would haggle with a dealer for a new TT that costs a little more (~$38500) then take a chance on a used one. I noticed TT's on ebay going for far less than expected (high 20's to very low 30's).

IMHO I would put "$38000 or best offer" on it and take any offer over $36k for it (if its in very good condition).

But as Dennis Miller says "That's just my opinion..."

Default Exactly why there is a *no chance* I'll buy mine at end of lease term. Besides...

I'm so excited about replacing this one with the stunningly fabulous S-Line TT. Who needs more horsepower when pretty wheels and a few suspension bits will make me into the racecar driver I've always dreamed?

Default Having just sold mine (with less miles than yours and many upgrades/mods) I think you are being....

overly optimistic. One person I talked to ended up buying a car that sounds identical to yours but with silver/baseball and only 3000 miles for $34,500 (asking price). For an unmodded car with over 5000 miles I wouldn't anticipate getting more than $35-36K.

Default If I decide to turn in the 180 at the end of my lease in June 2002 and there

is no new release of a higher hp TT, what exactly is wrong with getting an "S-Line" instead of a stock 225? It would have some of the features I'd like such as a lowered suspension and those features would be covered under the warranty. Given no other choice, I don't see what the big fuss about the "S-Line" is. I agree with your point, however, in regard to Audi diluting the brand equity of the "S" with this release. Makes no sense to me.

Default Re: I doubt if you could get $4600 off a new one but

I think your right on the used value. It would be worth at least 3K to me to go new.b
