Faulty Oil Cooler found on my car: So far after taking the car
apart due to the oil in the coolant problem, theyve found a faulty oil cooler. Dealer said that they need to install new cooler prior to checking the turbo and the heads for both alignment and compression. Anybody care to guess whether there will be head damage, valve damage or turbo damage? Also does anyone know the compression specs for the 225? Thanks......

Best way to check your problems would be to Leak Check your engine. Pressure is applied through the spark plug hole (measured pressure applied) say 90 psi. Leakage dial will tell you how much is escapeing. Say 10% to 15% on a street motor. Good mechanic can tell you where your leakage is going. Intake Valve, Exhaust Valve, Head Gasket, Past the Rings. He also should check radiator because if it's a Head gasket it will blow out the fill cap. This is better than compression gauge. Your number on a compression gauge will change on how fast the motor is turned over. If the throttle is open, etc. Your Static Compression on your motor is 9.0 to 1 I think.

Very Interesting - They told me the same thing. Then changed their minds.
Did you have a large quantity of oil in your antifreeze reservoir? That was my indication of trouble.. They replaced the oil cooler then told me it was tested and found to be perfect. They also leak checked the entire engine and found it "perfect" also. They speculated the oil was poured into the reservoir. They were they only folks to add oil (at the 5K service).
The oil has not come back and the engine runs fine. I do smell antifreeze when the car gets hot. Might be residual residue spilled when flushing it out. The level seems constant.
Get them to show you the cooler and what went wrong... Please let us all know what they find out.. Thanks !
