Default Poll: How many run winter tires? If so, cheap alloys / stock / steel wheels?
Thinking about winter. Just visited Tire Rack
and the bill is ~1200 for cheap 17" alloys w/
arctic-alpin's. ~600 for 16" steel wheels w/ arctic-alpin's.

Do the steelies look THAT bad?

Winter tires on Borbets...not really cheap, but not really expensive...16" for winter.

Default steel wheels are GREAT! I loved mine for the first winter . . .
then I sold them when I got my AP Brakes because 16" steel wheels don't fit over aftermarket brakes

Check out Ronal, they are having winter wheel/tire specials as well.

I would go with 16" steel wheels though. Skip the plastic crappy hub caps though. Get the wheels in black.

Steel wheels are great - I love the look, I have them with Pirelli 210 snowsports

Default I have Pilot Alpins on stock wheels
They where great winter tires. And Ithe car retained 90-95% of its' handling characteristics.

Where do you live? Are you sure you need the Artic Alpins?
