Center display fade wackiness

Center display fade wackiness
My center display has faded, I first thought it had a couple of weeks ago right after I picked up my car from it's 5K service. But since I was driving home a long way with bright sun behind me I convinced myself that it hadn't actually faded but just looked dim because of the sun on it.
Well yesterday evening it went wacky and kept cycling bewteen bright and dim, so it wasn't just my imagination, there's something wrong with it. The dimmer seems to have little effect on it now, I'm thinking maybe a wire has come loose somewhere.
Anyone else had this problem?
Anyone know how to get behind the dimmer switch?
