Default V1 Install *** DONE *** 1 question

Pics to follow....

1) Managed to route the cable for the unit nicely around the a piller and under the top part of windshield with little effort was glad about this one.

2) Lower dash removed so I can pass through wire for concealed display (mounted under ashtray). This was the hardest part as I had to line the dash back up again before I could snap it back into place.

Two very important tips for this one if you ever do it

1) Don't work out on your weights for 30mins (arms) before attempting to take apart and put back the dash!
2) Line up the snapping points at the top first instead of struggling (see 1 above) for 10mins before finding them!

Install was a breeze (apart from the fatigue) thanks to everyone who replied to my previous posts (I know there were many!)

Question
So what's the best setting for the volume and strength? I'd prefer to ask those here as oppose to reading through the manual (RTFM) ! TIA

Thanks again - now I'm off for an early steak dinner, we've worked for it!

Default Most people use the Big L setting.. saved me many times- the A setting is

too sensetive, many false alarms (even my cell phone set it off).

Use the big L. Volume is personal choice - - just have it one click louder than stereo.

Default Pic & details (longish)

OK, sorry the picture didn't come out well but I was using someone else's from the forum as my sister has my digicam.

Step by Step V1 Hardwire Directions
1. Remove side panel (to reveal fuse and screws) bu using a flatbed screwdriver
2. Remove ALL of the hex screws so you can almost pull out the black plastic panel which holds the fuse box

*** NOTE *** you can also now move out the fuse box from this panel enough to slide the display cable through.

3. Once lower dash screw in removed, go under lower dash (by pedals) and undo the 2 screws (same fitting) at either ends of the lower dash.
4. You can now drop down the lower dash and route the wire through to the center unit (if you're moounting under the ashtray as I did.
5. Attach the V1 black wiring box & fuse usiung the velcro in a suitable place in the un-covered area by the fuse box

*** NOTE *** I put mine at the bottom left corner

6. Once lower dash routing of cable has been done, put back lower dash and screw into place.

*** NOTE *** I spent almost 10mins trying to do this before I noticed the 2 snap in plugs located by either side of the steering wheel. So line those up and the dash "snaps" back into place

7. No put back ALL the screw into their places and you have the fuse area back to normal but now with added wires ready to route to unit & display.
8. Route the "main unit" wire as show above up and ready to go up the APillar and across the top
9. Attach the ground wire (black) to the ground screw (has yellow paint on it)
10. Attach the red wire either by tapping into the fuse wire or by tapping into a fuse (I used #27) and it all works fine)
11. You can now turn on ignition and TEST before putting panel back etc. If all ok, then replace the panel so you're back to square one but now have 2 wires. One under the dash and 1 by the APillar.

Display cable and mount
I chose to place my concealed display under the ashtray for a couple of reasons..
1. Out of sight but still easy to hit the mute button
2. Excess cable stays behind thin plastic doors above back of compartment under ash-tray.
3. By placing unit to the left (or right) you still have room to place your hand into the compartment (where the fuel cap switch is etc)

Main Unit Cable routing (APillar)
I thought this was going to be a complete pain as the plastic covers of the APillar didn't seem to come of easily. However, I found out these easy steps.
1. For the roof routing (main unit to APillar) just ease the panel slightly and it moves enough to put the wire under (like when you route speaker cable behind the edges of carpet).
2. Then for the APillar (leave enough slack for the bend) you have to position the wire on it's flat edge.
3. Then taking a small electrical screwdriver just tap it into place. You'll find the wire goes behind the APillar with ease once lined up.

I'll post some pics when I get my digicam back of the wire in the APillar etc and the concealed display

Thanks again to everyones previous posts etc
