Performance Problem
This is my first post here and it is asking for advice or help
I just purchased my 2000 TT a few days ago.
But after having it for a few day I noticed a problem
When really stepping on it there is hesitation
which occurs over 4k RPM and and usually
after trying to power through 2 gears. So at the end of the second gear there will be a momentary jolt of power loss then back to full power again some times this is real dramatic and sometimes its faint. I have had the car in service 2 times in the past week for this the first time the dealer said that the car drove to factory specs....but they also said driving over 4k was not the proper way to drive it.
So i brought it to a different dealer which was able to notice the problem after having the car for 3 days before they could even look at it.
They said it was the Turbo Bypass Valve so they replaced it. and said it was all fixed upon picking the car up after hours the problem is still there it seams to have goten better but it might just be my wishing so..
Oh and also prior to the first the check engine light came on. The first dealer said it was just
a glitch the computer said that the car was running lean but after resting the light it has not returned. So I am hoping to return to the dealer a little wiser and maybe with some advice.
the car is a 00 180Hp
Thanks
Ryan
I use a Bailey DV, but a lot of people are suggesting the new Forge DV. Either is fine, I'm sure.
sTTanford is right, you need a new DV valve. Stratmosphere.com has 'em and getting one sooner vs. later will make your experience with the TT much better. Audi has tried to fix this problem forever to no avail.
As for the 4k RPM BS they told you, forget it! Drive it like you stole it... 5+k shifts are fine.
Welcome to the Forum! Keep comin' back!
Off the top of my head,
*1->2 ~6600 (redline)
*2->3 ~6500
3->4 ~6000
4->5 ~5700
*I'm pretty certain about these two values, 3, 4, 5th gear, I'm not as sure. But the important shifts are the earlier ones anyway.
