Such great handling, even stock...
I took the long way to work this morning, from Mountain View to San Jose through Page Mill, 35, and 9
(BTW, there is road work on 9 at least from 35 to Saratoga. Not very much fun these days.)I love the way the car takes those turns. Since I don't have past experience to compare, I can't be sure if it's the quattro that's generating this great handling.
Do others have opinions on how a FWD TT compares to a quattro TT? Do you think the quattro really helps in day-to-day or a little spirited driving conditions?
My goal is to start modding the car in a year, after the warranty period expires to keep the 'toy factor' alive.

IMO, some of the difference in feel is due to the more sophisticated rear suspension on the quattro as compared to the FWD, not the all-wheel drive portion of the equation. Yes quattro helps when you need it, but I suspect you don't get it working much unless your driving is very spirited.
A large part of the "great handling" you describe is the large (for the car weight) sticky tires and the suspension tuning. Especially when compared to most sedans and '71 Karmann Ghias, the TT is orders of magnitude better.
My $.02

I probably wouldn't take the recall if I knew MKI's were stiffer. I thought MKIIs were great because I was driving the TT right after returning the rental Neon

I will have to decide on the suspension mod next year.
Quattro does nothing for you on turn in. It's when you transition power towards the apex and track out that you can feel that grip shifting. IT's awesome!
