Default Amber red leather w/o baseball optic in the 180

I was wondering - is it possible to get the amber red leather without the baseball optic? I heard that the baseball optic is nothing more than amber red with the baseball stitching. While it looks cool, it looks to be something that will not stand the test of time - and I DO want to wear my seatbelt!

Also, for $ reasons, I wish to get a stripped down TT roadster (nimbus grey w/ amber red, 180). Is it even possible? I suppose that when I do buy, it will be in the used car market , so I'd like to know if they have even been coming out like this.

Also, I want to make sure that the amber red would have the same cool leather trim around the car, like shown on pp. 10-11 in the TT brochure. If I need to get the baseball optic to get that, then that's OK too.

Default some answers for you

To my knowledge the only Amber Red seats without the baseball glove stitching came out on Coupes in a special run in 1999 called the Nieman Marcus edition (pictured here). Since then, you could only get the stitched Amber Red seats as an option in the Roadster, not the Coupe. Recently someone in the UK got a Coupe special ordered with the stitched Amber Red seats. I can't recall a 180 TTR with the stitched Amber Red seats, I think that folks either tend to get the full meal deal or go basic on options. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but I just can't think of anyone with a 180 TTR and the Amber Red Baseball seats.

As far as wear, I've noticed complaints of the Ebony leather wearing more than the stitched Amber Red seats. I've been concerned about the possibility of wear, but happily I can report that it has not been a problem with my car or anyone else's I've read about. The stitching "builds character", but I wouldn't call it wear so much.

Default On the subject of wear, here is a photo comparison.

The picture above shows little if any wear near the drivers left shoulder.

The picture above shows the worst wear I can find which is on the left bolster on the driver's side where the driver slides in and out of the car. This is after 9K miles. I'm very happy with it. I think it is aging gracefully.
