Default Exhaust Opinions PLEASE!!!!!!!

Ok, I have just completed a search to which my answer hasn't been answered totally. The answer I'm basically looking for is, why is the Borla exhaust so much cheaper than the other brands out there? I have a 225 QC and I'm dieing for the addition of a top-notch exhaust. I'm just having a hard time deciding on which brand will provide me with the most quality and performance. So far I'm leaning towards the APR because it seems to have the best quality under $1000. So if everyone with an upgraded exhausted 225 can give me their input on this, it would be GREATLY APPRECIATED. Also If you have switched from one brand to another, and why.

Default Borla for me - don't see where it gives away anything to the others and...

...as you say it is less expensive. From what I have read, APR, MTM, Forge Milltek are all great exhausts as well but for me...why spend the extra dollars for no noticable increase in performance. I suspect there might be some sound differences and if you want a louder system, a couple of the others offer a nonresonated system which will be louder but may be susceptable to resonance at certain rpms.
If spending more makes you feel better - spend more! Either way you'll have a great system.

GRINS, Curt

Default Borla has been in business for a long time, and can relatively easily produce a system for the TT...

that is cheaper than other manufacturers.
Is the Borla a true 3" (75mm) system from the Cat-Back?
The Forge is, and with the 100 mm tips, this is what drew me to them at the time.
Other systems are 3"-75mm also, I'm not sure of the Borla.

It's a *huge* muffler system, same type stainless, but built without the same type of company backing as Borla.
I'm not saying which one is better, but your choice seems to be based on price.
I bought the Forge-Milltek right when it came out, and I saw the APR system this spring at Fallingwater, before it was formally introduced.
The APR exhaust is smaller than the F-M, but it's difficult to say which is best.
Ihey both sound great.
I also like the looks of the Jetex system, but I am VERY HAPPY with the quality and performance of the F-M.

I think the APR may be the closest in performance and quality to the F-M.
Had I waited, I probably would have gotten that one.

The choice is very subjective.
I don't know of anyone on this forum that has had one of these systems, and swapped it for another.

I think *all* reports from all the exhaust systems people have used, have been postive, save for some minor install/fitting problems, which, by-the-way, I had with the Forge system.

Default Why not? Get some numbers(1/4 mile, etc..) and see if they stack up...

I would believe that its possible to have 290hp with a chip, exhaust, and cold-air intake....as long as the chip is calibrated with everything installed in the car.

Default not with a turbo that can flow 270 max hp

you cant just add HP numbers - not all mods add to PEAK HP

293 is bull**** - there are lots of us here with even more mods than that - and we aren't pushing more than 270/275 with the stock turbo

Default Have your local performance exhaust shop build a single center reflective resonated 3" straight pipe

that would cost $200 and give more performance than anything out there. The K04 gets enough backpressure from the cats. To optimize power, any more backpressure than neccessary is a waste of money and power potential. A 3" straight pipe is good for 300HP and it sounds very cool.
