Default New bonus feature since getting a new Light/lock/alarm module installed...

The doors now re-lock at 5 mph, if unlocked while driving.

Before the module was replaced, it would only lock once, at 15 mph.

Now it re-locks every time you go under 5 mph and the doors are unlocked. This is cool.

So I count 2 new "features" - Auto-relock of the doors, and driving time display doesn't reset at 24:00.

The interior alarm also seems to be falsing less frequently. It used to false daily. It has only falsed once in a month or 2.

Did you have this module replaced to solve the infamous "Lock/Light" bug which still plagues me?

Default the module will not solve that issue . . .

the issue you are referring to was solved well over a year ago and was placed into the Audi TechNet Service. It is a grounding issue. Your dealer just has to call and ask for the proper wire to be reground. I was one of the first to have this done and I had it reported to AoA.

If your dealer is still so stupid as to not be able to fix this, then have them contact Paul, the Service Manager of Wallingford Porsche+Audi in Wallingford, CT. That is the dealer that I used to go to and they got the fix from the California dealer that actually figured out the problem. I had them repair all of the TT's on the lot before touching mine to make certain the fix worked.

Default Thanks Larry. Yes I wish my dealer was better informed on this service issue.

I really wish that AoA would publish a specific service note describing the problem and the fix so that I could point the service tech's in the right direction.

I'm due for the 10K service soon. I'll print out your post and bring it with me, but the attitude that I get from the dealer is that any "facts" from the internet are worthless hearsay.

We continue to read compaints of this problem from new owners. How long does it take for Audi to build in the right fix on new cars?

Luckily for me the bug has been on vacation for the summer, and has not annoyed me recently.

Thanks again!

Default My old dealer gave me the same song and dance . . .

then I showed up in CT calling them on my cell phone. I didn't turn the car off or open a door. Paul, the service manager had to lean into the car and try and figure out what the problem was. This was before I got the fix. He could not believe it. He really thought I was nuts, before I showed up like that.

Once I got the answer online I called my salesman and had him check there inventory. I gave him the exact procedure to make the "bug" appear everytime. He had it on ALL of the cars. I then called the service manager and told him what I had just done and told him where to call to get it fixed. He said he would and he thanked me. I have sent many dealers from across the country his way for the fix.

Just give your dealer my old dealers name and tel#. That is all you need to do. Don't even mention or bring in the post, it will just **** them off.

Default yes...The lights would stay on while driving, while car was off, etc...

I described the problem to them, they seemed to have a clue. They ordered the new module, installed it, did whatever they had to do (mentioned programming), and has been flawless since.

I'm very happy with the new 'features' that may or may not be correct - auto relock and the 99:99 hour driving timer.

This, of course, was the same dealer that didn't know (until I faxed them the TSB) about the DV problem/fix. But they seemed to have got this one right.

Default Do you remember the exact procedure to make the "bug" appear everytime.

I think it would be useful since I can understand how hard it is to fix an intermittent problem, and right now our car seems to be acting OK. I'll understand completely if you can't remember it exactly since it has been quite a while since you diddled with this. Thanks!

Default why of course I remember it! :)

First off, do you have the auto-lock feature turned on? The thing that locks your doors at 15mph?

Ok, this is what needs to be done:

1. Get in your car, DO NOT start it.
2. Manually lock the doors.
3. Start the car and drive away if you want.
Turn the overhead lights on, they won't work.
Try the vanity lights they also won't work.
Try and unlock the buttons with the switch, it will not work.

Now if you stop the car and turn the car off, but leave the key in the ignition, everything will still NOT work. Once you remove the key everything will again work. If it still does not work, then open the door. I think you need to open the door so it might not work with just the key out. This part I am fuzzy on.

That is it. Pretty simple, but took quite a while to figure this out, believe me! lol

Ok, I remember now, the key must come out and the door MUST be opened before everything works again. I remembered this because I was on the highway late one night with no lights and I needed to read directions and could not see them. I literally turned the car off and opened the door at about 70mph. I know, I should have pulled over, but I was in a hurry lol

Note: Kids don't try what I did at home! lol

Craig, another thing. To get the doors and lights to work properly, just remember to start the car BEFORE locking the doors! I always locked the doors before even putting the key in the ignition.

Let me know.

Default Then there must be AT LEAST TWO symptoms of the lock/light bug...

As our overhead light would remain on under similar conditions just as Lexx reported above instead as you report "would not work."

Our dealer replaced the module and things are fine now. They did not report adding a ground.

Any more clues/info, LarryTT?

Default What I am talking about was affecting the 2000 and early 2001 TT's . . .

it was supposed to be sent back to Germany to be implemented on the assembly line. The bug that Lexx is talking about is something totally different. It must just be a 2001/02 bug that keeps certain lights on. I never saw that with a 2000 TT. Maybe a defective controller or the changed something and it affected that part.

Honestly I don't have a clue. I have read about it, but it always seems to be a 225TT, which is a 2001/02.
