Pity it (not directly) meant the loss of the Southtown theatres...
The Southtown died before KK was announced, of course, and KK is being built in what used to be the theatre's parking lot. One of the last big auditorium screens in Milwaukee.
I have fond memories of seeing <i>Close Encounters of the Third Kind</i> there (around eight times!) and <i>Pink Floyd: The Wall</i>, both presented in 70mm, as well as <i>Earthquake</i>, in its full <b>Sensurround</b> glory.
Actually, with the recent announcement that Northwestern Mutual Life purchased the land the last Milwaukee drive-in (the <i>41 Twin Outdoor</i>) sits on, it's been a pretty bad couple of years for Milwaukee theatres with some type of historical value... :-(
