OT-- Wireless networking and windows XP
I can't upgrade my WAP 11 firmware nor can I upgrade my laptop to XP because the WPC 11 won't work.
I do love XP tho and miss it when I am at work.
I ran the upgrade report on my 98 pc and its going to be extremely painful to upgrade that.. so I'm holding off.
I like:
-The new format of the Start menu
-The new look
-The stability
-driver support is outstanding (Linksys excepted)
-Photo viewing, editing and printing functions ROCK
-It's faster than Win2k
- The help is very intuitive. I'm not shy to go there even as a computer pro. Answers are there.
- Remote control
-Compatibility mode: If a program wants Win95, WinXP gives it Win95. It works. I tried it with old games.
- It's exactly what is advertised: the ease of use of Win9x with the stability of Win2K.
- System Restore (it works)
Things I don't like:
- Hibernate won't work. It does tell me that the Keyboard driver is the reason (which is cool) but it won't hibernate. I am running RC1, tho.
-when I swith to Ali's user profile it wants the damn Office 2000 CD. The files are all there, it works fine under my profile!
-Plus Packs are bull****. (I'm sure that aquarium screen saver is cool, tho.)
- Mouse settings aren't saved when I go back and forth between profiles
Really those are all bugs. I think XP is not just the best Windows yet, but a great OS. It serves everyone well.
Regarding your office 2000 issue...I found that in Win98 also...you need to install in each profile for it to correctly recognize it. But you probably know that already. XP should be smart enough too, right?

I have a Cisco card from work, which I'll use at home. I got the new card for my wife. I'm thinking I'm going to daisy chain two wireless networks until the XP support arrives.
My wife will continue to use the old wireless we have (1.6mps) and I'll use the new stuff.
I can't connect to work from the old stuff. It doesn't support NAT passthrough.
As I type this my old hard drive is starting to make funny noises. I NEED to get this new drive built as soon as possible before my backup drive dies on me! argh!
