OT: Reaction times. Reading our P.R. release on our Funny Car driver's win this weekend. The
"Capps used a superb reaction time, .447 seconds (.400 is perfect), to stop Bazemore. By leaving the line first, Capps got to the finish line first on a 4.884-second, 314.02-mph run, beating Bazemore's 4.875 at 317.57."
Less than half a second.... Guess I have to practice my launches...LOL. Also, notice he won because of that. His run took longer and he didn't go as fast as the second place guy. Hmmm, watch out Mr. Boxster S Man... ;-)
Even if the two cars had absolutely identical runs, 1/100 of a second better reaction time equates to almost 5 feet at the finish line for these guys.
Of course, with a TT it would only be about 16 inches, but it would still be a win!
Meanwhile, my best reaction time in the 2 drag races I have done is a poor 1.247.
My typical rxn on a sportsman tree(.500 being perfect) is .530-.550. I've only had one perfect light, ever.

BTW, glad to hear Tif's doing better. That was an unusual thing, according to Sandy.

As far as staging goes...I go in very shallow. I'll creep in, light up the prestage, wait for the other lane to prestage, then inch in until the stage bulb just flickers and go another inch or 2. Using this technique, I have to launch just as the last amber begins to glow. Sometimes, my brain is a bit slow, so I'll just stage a bit deeper and adjust my dial-in accordingly.
Thanks for the well-wishes. We're just laying here watching a movie right now.
