My snarky answer is that well, in theory you could have a RMIC

for cars like the MR2 turbo or say a Porsche Turbo.....

I realize that you are mostly kidding but also I think it refers to the placement in the center more than the end of the car =)

Don't forget that cars like a Subaru has their IC mounted ON TOP of the engine . .

Audi IC's are mounted on the side, so FMIC is correct, it is mounted in the front, as opposed to the SMIC that is standard

WRX - sits on top of the engine under hood

and as sean mentions - the porsche turbo is mounted in the rear engine compartment
and our stock IC's are side mounted
