Default Some disapointment w/ HearsTT Castle Rally thus far...

The reservations started coming in quickly, but now I'm beginning to see some cancellations. As of this writing, 29 individuals have signed up for the rally. Fortunately, I was temporarily able to talk one couple out of cancelling.

Out of the 29 registered attendees, only 8 are fully paid. At this point, I'm looking at only 14 TTs. Some others have said they wanted to go, but then failed to respond to my follow-up.

I've put a lot of time into making this relatively inexpensive and a lot of fun, but I'm a bit discouraged with the response thus far. I'd prefer to not "beg" for attendees on other forums if at all possible, as I envisioned this as a mostly TT event.

Anyway, interested parties should e-mail me. You'll find a FAQ on the event at the SoCal TT Club homepage at http://www.socalttclub.org (link below). Just click on events, then click on the photo of Hearst Castle.

I think your mistake was scheduling on the heels of TT West.

Default Don't think I didn't look at a number of different dates...

This area is a lot smaller than most think. Our (expected) group is larger than the great majority of hotels in that area.

The event is approximately 2 months after TT-West, which I believe is reasonable. Hopefully, we'll get some more participation. The $100 registration fee covers damn near everything (except room, drinks and your Friday dinner, which is on your own).

Default As a local event, 2 months is probably fine, but if you were aiming for a wider audience...

(requiring a significant commitment of time and expense from east coasters, for instance), 2 months is not enough. In any event, hope it ends up going well.

Default I wanted to keep it smaller than the other 2 major events...

That's why it was capped at 50 attendees. Not looking for the largest event, just an event that is logistically at least on par with the others.

We'll see what happens. If turnout doesn't pickup, I'll invite those on some of the other AW forums, but I'd rather see some more TT owners sign up. Not including myself, 13 TT owners have registered (I have a couple of friends coming who don't own TTs). This is a weak showing, in my view.

I was hoping to attend, I'm just going to be drained after 3 days of solid driving.
