Default Either PS2 or X-Box. Graphics are great in both.

I am having lots of fun with Mike's PS2 and GT3. I played the X-Box in a CompUSA yesterday, really good graphics. The controller for me was much more comfortable than the PS2 controller. Don't go by me though, I have a reconstructed wrist/arm and the PS2 controller bothers my wrists. The X-Box controller was more comfortable though.

I can't say what accessories to get. I want a PS2 though!

Default I think any of the offerings should be a good buy right now.

Dreamcast is down to about $50, and there's a ton of great games for it.

PS2 has Gran Turismo 3, and you can actually find them as opposed to the X-Box and GameCube. If you're going to get this, you might as well ask for the Gran Turismo pack and get the steering wheel with it.

X-Box is technically a great machine. Awesome visuals, it's basically a PC so you know there's going to be all kinds of neat upgrades and hacks for it, and there's already a handful of good games.

GameCube is a little cheaper than X-Box and PS2 ($200 I think?) but Nintendo products are usually a little more targeted towards kids. If you've got kids in the house, you can bet they'll love it, but there's still stuff for adults like that new Metroid game.

Of course, if you're unsure, head on down to the ol' Best Buy and try them all out since they have all of them set up...At least at the one near me.

Default I have the PS2, I would love the XBox

Honistly, and I am sure someone will disagree, I think the Gamecube is for a younger crowd (5-17). I think the XBox and PS2 are designed for a serious gamer in mind. Honistly both are great systems. I love the PS2 for GT3 (must get the wheels if you get the game, it was made for it), Grand Theft Auto 3 is WAY too much fun, but too violent for some. I also really like my newest game: Metal Gear Solid 2- talk about GRAPHICS!

The XBox is doing everything right. I am not one to think Bill Gates is the devil. I personally think Microsoft is a prime example of capitalism at its finest. Any ways, XBox has some amazing graphics. It has support for HD, when they make a game for it. Plus with a built in hard drive you will never need a memory card. In addition the Xbox has a built in ethernet connection, and online gaming coming VERY sortly. I was speaking to one of the developers of HALO on the phone, while troubleshooting an Exchange 2000 problem, and he has been playing Halo online for a month or so, he said it was a matter of time.

If you want time proven, go with the PS2, great games, good controller, been around for a while.

If you want cutting edge get the XBox, built in hard drive, HD support, amazing games, and a fresh attack at the gaming market.

Required accessories: Component Video cables for HD support or at least the crispest display.
For PS2: get the wheel if you get GT3 and a memory card. Games to consider: GT3, GTA2 and Metal Gear 2
For XBox: don't really need anything special. Games to consider: Halo, Dead or Alive 3.

Hope that helps!

It's all about the games, find the games you want to play, then buy the box that plays 'em
