Default Chatted w/ Bobby Clarke last night while window shopping in Haddonfield, NJ

I think I could have checked him through a window w/out much difficulty. He was quite friendly (maybe b/c I didn't bring up Eric Lindros).

Default Doubt he sent a card & he would've had to have taken his teeth out before

coming after me so I would have been able to have gotten away. His knees are shot.

Default he could not have gotten up and killed Joel! lol

He didn't have any goons around to do his bidding for him. Bobby Clarke was one of the most cowardly players I have ever seen lace up a pair of skates! I was at every game he ever played agains the Islander from 1972 through 1985 and he never defended himself, he always have Dave Schultz or even Reggie Leach do his fighting for him.

Clarke is the same kind of GM as he was a player. He bullies everyone then complains that someone else started it. I am not defendinc Lindros, but Clarke pretty well screwed him at every turn.

Joel, you should have laid him out, nobody would have helped him.

Default Funny, I work out fairly often w/ Dave Schultz (The Hammer)....

Many of the old Broad Street Bullies (and current Flyers)live in the area. I certainly can NOT lay Schultzie out!

Just about everyone around here agrees that Clarke screwed Lindros and agrees that he manages the team in a much too personal manner, however, he's still a huge sports icon around here because of his role during the Flyers Stanley Cup years. Anyway, shop windows in Haddonfield are rather pricey so it's probably best that I held off.

Default When I was in school . . .

I read his book and did a report on it! lol I think I was in 5th grade, something like that. I was and still am a HUGE hockey fan. Played throughout Jr High and HS and after. Went to Providence College Hockey Camp even! Guess who was hte Providence College Hockey coach and in charge of the camp back in 1979?

Lou Lamoriello, the GM of the Devils! His nickname back then and I am sure still is . . . The Duck. Reason, he waddles when he walks! lol Great man. I actually used to play hockey Friday and Saturday nights with some ex-Rangers and ex-Islanders in the mid 1980's. Lots of fun and some great times.

Do you or did you ever play?

Ask Schultz when was the last time he got his head handed to him by Bobby Nystrom? lol According to his book, he never wanted to fight, but was talked into each and every fight by Fred Shero.

Default I never read the book but doubt that Shero talked him into gooning it up

I only played street hockey (but had a wicked wrist shot) and I play a little in-line hockey now - just pick up games.

I think I'll pass on the Nystrom comment - there are a lot of heavy things in the gym and I would prefer not to have him pin me beneath too many of them.

My memory of Nystrom is the 'offsides' winning goal.
